Get This Week Off To A Great Start By...

Okay so it's Monday again. How are you feeling? Is that a silly question? Mondays have become synonymous with negative connotations. But it doesn't have to be like that, here at Nutrient Wise we don't tend to follow the crowd anyway. We love Mondays! We see them as fresh canvases on which we can create a masterpiece. We believe in nurturing strong minds and strong bodies,  getting the week off to a great start isn't hard at all, all it takes is a positive outlook and some enthusiasm. 

1. Rethinking Your Role Model

It's scary that our children look up to figures like Barbie or other glamourised icons, so we should not be doing the same.  Let's be honest, for us to look like any celeb is unrealistic, we'd have to be nearly 6 feet tall, or at least wear killer heels all day, everyday, we would have to shrink our waist size by 8 inches , and move the excess up to our chests to be even in with a chance. There's a better way to live our lives than living in their shadow. Strive to be your child's idol as they watch you blossom into a confident and revitalised woman. So drop the pretence, select positive role models. Choose role models that help you feel good about who you are, rather than ones who make you feel bad. Find a female role model who is strong, healthy -- and real! Beyonce is the perfect example, she's curvy, a working mum, but best of all she's super fierce. Bravo!

2. Celebrating Your Day's Journey

In the midst of your exercise and weight loss goals, don't forget to enjoy each and everyday. Why should we strive for a goal if we can't have fun along the way? Whatever you do don't let getting fit deprive you of the pleasures of everyday life. It is important that you live for the moment, it's great for your soul if you savour the moments that put a smile on your face. 

3. Forgive Yourself

If you slipped up over the weekend, if you over ate, drank too much, or failed to exercise -- forgive yourself. We are not saying that it's not okay to be hard on yourself, it's important that you recognised your downfalls, but don't beat yourself up about it too much, as long as you don't make a habit of letting yourself down it's fine. One weekend every now and then is totally okay, if you say to yourself on the Monday "I had a really great weekend", then let it go at that. You know what needs to be done. So do it. 

4. Never Going Hungry

Katherine Tallmadge, MA, RD, author of Diet Simple, says the biggest cause of overeating is undereating. "People go too long without eating, and then pig out when they are ravenously hungry." Don't be this person. I mentioned it before in one of my earlier blogs titled "It's Okay To Snack" but rigid diet plans don't work for anyone. Include snacks in your diet to prevent binges like this. 

5. Feeling Good About Yourself Today

Look in the mirror and appreciate your progress, don't get hung up on pounds or what size dress your wearing. Instead focus on being healthy from the inside out. You are as sexy and as fabulous as you feel. Plan your outfits for work the night before so you don't have to waste time in the morning, and you will feel extra ready for the day whilst ensuring that you look gorgeous!
